High level todos

The project needs help in many things. This page tries to list a few.

Before starting to work on something, it is wish to ask on the Linux-NTFS-Dev mailing list if someone is already working on it, and possibly even get a mentor for this stuff (if you are new).

C programming: Kernel

There are plenty of things to be done in the kernel kernel_driver.

We strongly recommend to start with userspace things first, and only dive into the kernel once you are a bit more familiar with NTFS.

If you really want to hack on it, you can see the driver's roadmap for details.

C programming: Userspace

ntfsprogs contains many tools that requires polishing, new features. and even introducing new tools.

Some simple tasks include:

  • ntfsls: add the year to the date
  • ntfsinfo: print volume usage
  • ntfsinfo: non-res, print number of runs (measure of fragmentation)
  • ntfsinfo: decode flags (some still aren't)
  • ntfsinfo: support hexadecimal parameters in addition to decimal.

Website updates

Yes, we have a new website, but it is far from optimal.

Some simple tasks include:

  • Add content to the wiki.
  • Integrate fourms to the mambo site (http://www.linux-ntfs.org). possibly phpBB.
  • Improve the template.

Documentation updates

The todos are documented inside the documentation files. (some in comments, some in the todos section, some are scattered throughout the documentation)

See cvs for details on how to download the files.

Other stuff

We can welcome any useful thing that you may think about. It can be from any field.

FIXME: Links below are broken. Find relevant posts and update links. Using MARC archive instead of sf.net is probably good idea.
